What a constructive weekend!!  Numerous students received guidance through the steps of Pam’s Trip, volumes of Loose Ends were being tied up in the Library, and the Groves quilt top materialized from the beautiful fabrics provided by Guild members.

With the participation of 27 members at the General Membership meeting, new officers were chosen for the 2011 year and the committee sign-up lists were being generated.  Check out the new officers and committee list page; call Cece at 424-3667 to have your name included on a committee.  The participation of many makes it all the more fun for everyone.

Several creative opportunities were presented during the business meeting.

Tanya Zastrow, representing the Fungus Festival folks,  displayed  silk fabrics dyed with mushrooms and lichen in beautiful, muted colors, available for making 18 in.  x 18 in. pillow cases.  The FF  would like several pillows created for their August festival and generously offered some of the silks for the Guild’s Tea and Auction.   Here’s our  chance to try something unique.

Dotty Widmann, our Net Loft neighbor,  is sponsoring a trunk show and classes in July featuring Keri Duke, Contemporary Hawaiian quilter and designer.  We understand a class and kit will cost about $70.  Good investment and another great opportunity.

And leading into and ending with, the choices for the NWQG’s September 22-24, 2011 big event of Bonnie Hunter lecture and classes were determined!!  Bonnie will lecture on her Scrap User System on Thursday night, 9/22/11; Friday will see Bonnie teaching her techniques on Blue Ridge Beauty from 9am-4pm; and Saturday, 9/24/11, 9am-4pm, will conclude with her Cathedral Stars design.  We understand  the Blue Ridge Beauty design  is a bit easier than the Cathedral Stars – beginning quilters will be comfortable and intermediate quilters will enjoy the BRB, and the techniques learned in the BRB will prepare the beginning quilters for the more complex CS.  Put in on your calendar.

The committee in charge of this event will be providing details and instructions “sew” those interested can begin to prepare and schedule use of the Guild’s AccuCutter as needed – only $5 per 20 minutes.   Costs for events and timelines for signing-up will also be set – check back often as these details are worked out.

Thank you to all who planned and organized this weekend’s activities, taught, assisted and participated in the class,  contributed time and fabric to the Groves quilt, brought nearly-completed projects to inspire – what a wonderful weekend with neighbors.
