CORDOVA NORTHWIND QUILTER’S GUILD

“ALICE REILLY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES”

STATEMENT OF INTENT

The Cordova Northwind Quilter’s Guild. on behalf of our past guild member, Alice Reilly, wishes to award the graduating senior who best represents quilting, in a creative, helpful and organized manner, the “ALICE REILLY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.”

$500.00 will be awarded to the graduating senior who best exemplifies the art of quilting in a manner that honors the memory of Alice Reilly.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1.     Must be a Cordova High School, Home School, or G.E.D. graduating

      senior.

2.   Must submit an official transcript from Cordova High School, home study

      program or sufficient proof of graduation from a G.E.D.

3.     Must submit a letter of recommendation from a non-family member, as it

      pertains to quilting.

4.   Must include an example of your quilting: i.e. pictures, sketches, or original

      work.   Any original work will be returned to you ASAP.

5.     Must submit a 200 word essay, describing  your quilting experience, your   

      projects, and how quilting has prepared you for your future life.

6.     Must include your scholarship application, official transcript, letter of

      recommendation, example of work and 200 word essay by May 1.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

1.   All applications will be reviewed by a family member of Alice Reilly and

      by at least two Northwind Quilter’s guild members who have no conflict

      of interest or prejudice in regards to personal relationships with

      applicants, and who have not served on our other scholarship committee

      in the same year.

2.   The recipient will be announced at our local graduation ceremony, or

      at a guild meeting if applicable.

FUND DISBURSEMENT

1.     Funds will be sent directly to college of recipients’ choice, upon receiving      

      recipient’s college name and address.

2.     It will be the responsibility of the recipient to notify the Guild of the college

                  name and address.
